Well, in novel her story trumps his anytime. It was sadly ruined by avoiding the gore in that story and just skimping over it.

So just to be sure. Did the story imply her mother fed her her own body parts and then pass just before rescue arrived? I can't even imagine how that will work.
How long where they down there... in both cases? And how is she ever able to get near a cave again in how ever many life-times she may ever have?

They were trapped 2-3 weeks if I remember correctly. In 2 days grandmother died because of wounds, Then Bi Yao went hungry for 4-5 days and started crying. After that mother ?found? meat every day or two until she died from self inflicted wounds. And then there were 2 days to the rescue. The story never says "her mother fed her her own body parts", but it is not hard to connect it because everyone is downright horrified when they see her body

One thing that is missing is initial arguing between ZXF and BY. One is accusing other with "evil" and the other one is almost proud she is not "righteous"

Also, event was different. She (4 years old) and mother visited grandmother where they were attacked by "righteous" sect and caught. After that they specifically thrown them in a cave with nothing and blocked entrance with cave inj. You have to admit that is one helluva "righteous" thing to condemn 3-4 year old child to darkness, thirst and starvation

All what the rest said is that in novel this part is one of best events in any CMA novels due to duality perspective and animation dumbed it to "yea... something happened"

Yes and no, the way it was written makes it defacto best event in CMA novels I've read. Once you pass it... you can't decide if you just read gore version told nightmare making you disgusted with human nature or if you read something so sad and beautiful you want to cry. Event has 2 viewpoints, either you look from bystander perspective and you just want to puke or you look from Bi Yao or mother perspective (daughter) and you get impressed with how family could work.

This animation? You can summarise it to "yea, that happened"

Nah, the way it is written is defacto best moment in all Chinese novels I've read. You simply can't decide if it was absolute gore version of nightmare or some most beautiful story about love

Also, it kind of skips the one of main topics that happened in the cave. Main argue is "good against evil, she is evil, he is good" and the one killing her family "not some simple collapse, they were captured and enclosed alive. also Bi Yao was 4" was righteous sect...

Bro, I haven’t read the novel. But as far as i’m getting the plot. It seems like all three factions (Qingyun sect, Holy Church and Tianyin Temple) has same origin but got separated due to few possible reasons such as:
1- Ideology conflict in younger generation (who are currently consider as “ancestors” in current era)
2- In Holy Church, Buddhism and Taoism came into being because they only cultivated and specialized in one specific part of the Holy Book of Heaven and neglected the other. Thus, formed two different factions. (My Speculation)
3- As we all know, It is confirmed that Demon Stream was the banished faction of Holy Church due to their cruel methods and techniques. It’s like they took the wrong path and misunderstood the teachings of Holy Book of Heaven.
• May be because Demon Stream and Holy Church worship the God of Underworld that’s why Taoism and Buddhism consider them as evil. And never associated theirselves with Holy Church.

Hmm. you're thinking in right direction. But, it was 3, not 2.

Originally, there was one practice which practised inner and outer energy. Three people argued which is correct and created three factions which were at war. Budishm is internal, sect of ZXF (self) is external (nature) and evil practice both. In short, in that war only evil intersected with interests of others and that is why they joined in war against them. After the war... it is just PR, find some examples of horrible people and set them as evil in history

(I wrote more about it in ep.8, now I just don't care. The moment I was waiting for is done and I've seen how they ruined it... so, I'm dropping this animation. If it wasn't for "How they will ruin that moment?" I would drop it as soon as I saw this Harry Potter happy go lucky atmosphere change from really dark in novel)

Oh wow. Yeah anime so often gets 'sterilized' to its detriment. I like this Bi Yao chick--hope to learn more about her past/sect. She definitely fell for ZXF fast lol--she jelly asf of senior Lu.

Depends, whole thing was sterilised to the point where most things are left out and you miss like 90% of past and sects. They probably decided content is too hard and dumbed it down to non existent.

One good thing for you is that they surely can't avoid event with Bi Yao\s father. That one really makes one wonder wtf is "evil" in this story... well, answer is like in real life... bunch of post war PR where losers are portrayed as bad guys and winners are the good guys. All you need is few horrible people from that side and show them as common element

One more thing that I remembered that is missing... or at least was not told... nah, even bad would be praising it.

One reason why ZXF is strong is that he unlike others practices internal (Budhist method he gets in ep.1) and external (sect method). The method in this cave is from "evil sects" and to his shock, he realises that this is the missing part from both methods (evil method is internal and external, but both only go limited way which can only be advanced with other two methods) which makes them both more efficient. This way ZXF is the only person who practices original method (this is the third and last part) which originally existed before 3 disciples first argued which is better (internal or external), then started warring and creating their own bastardised methods. One could simply attribute they went with what they were capable with and tried to discredit everything else

In the war, "evil" took the short one. Due to overlapping with other two, the other two had less friction and they joined to deal with them
